Historic Lodge

Built in 1952, the original Bettles Lodge became recognized as a National Historic Site in the year 1996. Offering a billiard room with pool table, full service kitchen and gift shop with local native arts & crafts. Activities and comfortable surroundings to keep everyone entertained and relaxed. Take it all in with a cold beverage on the screened in porch, a refuge against any mosquito during the summer months.   Full service dining room & bar in the Lodge lobby – we are available to cater any event, great for parties, weddings and celebrations.

Upstairs in the Historic Lodge there are 6 cozy rooms that will take you back in time. These basic rooms offer all the amenities you need while you stay in a clean and comfortable piece of history. You can imagine yourself in the 1950's when the rooms were first built to house bush pilots and dog team drivers carrying the mail.

Aurora Lodge

All of the luxury you need while away from home is waiting for you in the Aurora Lodge. Our Deluxe rooms offer Jacuzzi bath tubs and private bathrooms. After a day of hiking or a night of watching the Northern Lights heat up with our wood-fired sauna, ready at your convenience. Take advantage of our on-staff masseuse in the privacy of your hotel room or in the massage room adjacent to the sauna. A full service kitchen is also located in the Aurora Lodge. European breakfast in a basket delivered to your door, arrange with the staff when you would like to wake - your pace, your vacation. Relax in the lobby during the day between activities with wireless internet, up-to-date Aurora Activity on the lobby computer, or play DVD's & Board games.  Hot chocolate, tea & coffee are available anytime as well as homemade baked goods. Enjoy a glass of wine or a local Alaskan Beer while you await the Aurora or watch the midnight sun never set.

Wilderness Cabins

The Aurora Viewing Cabin, located 3 miles from the Lodge, was created for the many photographers that travel to Bettles to capture the Northern Lights. The Cabin features a 360-degree outdoor view of the sky with windows on either side of the building to keep an eye out while staying warm ! Relax in a heated sitting area, take advantage of the futon for short naps and a deck overlooking the lake.

The Aurora Viewing Cabin is nice for a picnic or romantic dinner under the stars. Families enjoy being able to take the kids with them to view the Northern Lights. When the kids get tired they can put them to bed while the adults stand guard for Aurora activity.  In the summer walk or bike to the lake to go for a canoe paddle.
